The Eterna Process

A guided portrait experience designed to remove the guesswork before, during, and after your session.

01. Pre-Production

Before Your Session: Planning Every Detail

The experience begins before the camera comes out.

Before your session, I take time to understand what you want the photos to feel like, where they’ll be taken, and how the experience should flow.

Depending on the session, I may create a custom style guide, research the location beforehand, plan around the best lighting conditions, map out meeting locations, and guide the overall flow of the session from one spot to the next.

The goal is to remove as much uncertainty as possible so you never feel like you’re walking into the experience unprepared.

Most importantly, you can arrive feeling like someone has already thought through the details for you.

02. Production

During Your Session: Guided, Natural, and Fully Directed

You do not need to know how to pose.

On the day of your session, I guide the experience with warmth, clear direction, and attention to detail. You will never be left standing in front of the camera wondering what to do with your hands or where to look.

I guide your movement, posture, posing, and connection throughout the session. If something feels awkward, I’ll help shift it. If hair is out of place, a necklace turns around, or the light is better a few steps away, I’ll notice and adjust.

Using movement, prompts, and natural interaction, I help you relax into the experience so the photos feel intentional while still being comfortable and true to you.

  • Guided posing and movement
  • Real-time detail adjustments
  • A calm, supportive experience

FAQs Eterna Portraits

FAQs

Got questions? I've got answers.

What should I wear for portrait photos?

What you wear depends on the type of session, location, season, and the overall feeling you want from your photos. In general, soft neutrals, earth tones, subtle textures, and timeless pieces photograph well because they keep the attention on you instead of the outfit. Avoid loud logos, busy patterns, and colors that clash with your location. Eterna Portraits can help guide your outfit choices so your clothing works naturally with the setting, lighting, and final editing style.

What if I feel awkward in front of the camera?

Feeling awkward in front of the camera is completely normal. Most clients are not models and do not know how to pose when they first arrive. Eterna Portraits uses a guided approach with simple movement, natural direction, and small adjustments so you are never left wondering what to do. The goal is to help you feel comfortable, relaxed, and confident while still creating flattering portraits.

Do I need to know how to pose?

No. You do not need to know how to pose before your session. You will be guided through where to stand, how to move, where to look, what to do with your hands, and how to interact naturally with the camera or the people around you. The best portraits often come from a mix of gentle posing, movement, and in-between moments.

Do you pose people or take candid photos?

Eterna Portraits uses both posed and candid-style photography. The session is guided, but the final images are meant to feel natural rather than stiff. Some photos may involve direct posing for a clean, polished look, while others may come from movement, laughter, walking, conversation, or interaction. This approach creates portraits that feel authentic while still being professionally composed.

What makes Eterna Portraits different from other Long Island photographers?

Eterna Portraits focuses on guided, natural, and emotionally honest photography for everyday people. The experience is not built around stiff posing or expecting clients to know what to do. Instead, each session includes thoughtful planning, styling guidance, location support, posing direction, and a calm but confident process that helps clients feel comfortable in front of the camera. The result is photography that feels polished, personal, and true to the people being photographed.
